Oily Skin Care Treatment Information

By: Ryan Cote

The sebaceous glands in your skin form an oil called sebum, which lubricates and protects the surface of your skin. When the glands are overproductive and form too much sebum, your skin can appear greasy, shiny and course, with large pores and more frequent breakouts. This condition is known as oily skin.

Oily skin can be caused by a wide variety of factors, including genetics, fluctuating hormone levels, dietary choices, certain cosmetics and hot, humid weather. Although oily skin is prevalent in teenagers because skin becomes dryer with age, it can occur at any age. When your skin is oily only in certain areas, this is known as combination skin. The one advantage of having oily skin is that it tends to age at a slower rate than any other type of skin.

For oily skin care treatment, it is imperative to cleanse oily skin two to three times per day. Gentle cleansers with lukewarm water work best to remove oils without stripping the surface of the skin. A gentle astringent or toner should be used after cleansing. Finally, a light moisturizer that is not oil-based can be used in areas prone to dryness, such as around the eyes and mouth. Since oily skin tends to be scaly, the use of a mask twice a week can be very helpful in deep cleansing the pores and removing dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Another great technique for cleansing the pores is to steam your face over hot water for several minutes twice a week. This loosens the sebum in clogged pores and makes your skin look cleaner and more vital.

Healthy living habits can also improve the appearance and condition of oily skin. Drinking six to eight glasses of water per day, regular exercise and sleep and avoiding cigarettes are good ways to have beautiful skin. Supplementing your diet with vitamins A, B, C, E and zinc also promote healthy skin. With a little extra attention, you can dramatically improve the condition and appearance of your oily skin. If these ideas do not help and your skin remains prone to constant breakouts, you may have a skin condition known as acne, which requires additional care and treatment.

Is Your Skin Care As Pure As It Can Be?

By Hector Bolanos

To achieve a more radiant skin and beautiful complexion, it is vital to use only the purest skin care products, particularly those made only with raw, living and natural ingredients. In this article, I explain why this is the best external skin care possible, which, together with a healthy diet, right lifestyle and a positive mental attitude, helps the skin to become softer, firmer and achieve an unmistakable glow.

From the outset I'd like to emphasize that becoming more beautiful is available to anyone now, regardless of their present health, condition or age, who is willing to create beauty through changes in the diet, external skin care and mental outlook.

What we put on our skin is just as important as the food we eat. The skin is the body's largest organ and plays a crucial role, not only in the elimination of toxins and in regulating our internal temperature, but also in terms of absorption.

Therefore it is critical to use skin and personal care products that, first of all, are free from toxic chemical ingredients. Some of these ingredients include:

a) Propylene glycol: Found in practically every skin moisturiser, propylene glycol is used as the base ingredient in the manufacture of brake fluid and industrial anti-freeze. It greatly damages and ages the skin. It also causes rashes and dry skin.

b) Lauryl sulphates: These corrosive chemical ingredients used in industry to manufacture garage floor cleaner and engine de-greasing are also one of the main ingredients in practically every major brand of shampoo, bubble bath, face wash, shaving gel & toothpaste. Lauryl sulphates eat away at the mucous lining of the skin, are highly irritant to the eyes and cause urinary tract infections.

c) Parabens: synthetic chemicals which have been linked with breast cancer. They are used as preservatives in many shampoos and personal care products.

Secondly, it is important to use skin care products that are made only with raw, living and natural ingredients such as raw cacao (cocoa) butter and cold-pressed oils. This is because the skin greatly nourishes from the life force, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids present in the natural ingredients.

The benefits are numerous. The life energy in the ingredients is highly nourishing and healing. Antioxidants for example, help to reverse skin ageing and inflammation and help heal scar tissue. Minerals play a key role in beautifying the skin, hair & nails. Sulphur, for instance, is a central component of collagen & connective tissue, which provides elasticity & flexibility to the tissues. Vitamins such as A, C and E are moisturizing, soothing and healing to the skin. Essential fatty acids help to remove toxins from tissues.

To ensure that the life force and all these nutrients are retained, skin care products must be made at temperatures below 40C. If ingredients are heated above this level during the manufacturing process, most of the antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and the life force in the ingredients are destroyed. A good example of this is cold-pressed olive oil, which has long been considered a topical remedy for wrinkles and facial lines. Not surprisingly, olive oil is the best source of raw vitamin E. However, it is also is extremely sensitive to temperature and light and becomes completely corrupted when heated.

Heated oils and fats when used in skin care products 'even in the so-called most natural ones- are actually one of the worst offenders to skin beauty. They contain highly toxic transfatty acids, which may be absorbed into the cell membranes, causing them to become porous and weak. Heating oils and fats also leads to the creation of free radicals, which are unstable oxygen molecules that have lost an electron. Collagen, a protein molecule that constitutes 80% of the dermis, is particularly susceptible to free radical damage, which includes wrinkles, lingering scars and stiff collagen

In contrast, cold-pressed fats and oils kept at low temperatures help to beautify the skin, strengthen the cell membranes and restore nutrients to the tissues.

In short, the best external skin care is to use products made using only 100% raw and living ingredients. At present, the only company in the world producing a range of such products is Raw Gaia. More information can be found at www.rawgaia.com

Dry Skin Care Treatment Information

By: Ryan Cote

Dry skin, formally known as xerosis, can appear anywhere on your body, ranging from your face, to your arms and legs, to your feet. Dry skin has a low level of sebum, the oil naturally produced by the skin to keep it lubricated. Because of dry skin's inability to retain moisture, it is usually chapped, cracked and feels tight, especially after washing.

Dry skin can be caused by many factors. Some people are genetically inclined to dry skin. Poor diet and nutritional deficiencies contribute to parched skin. Exposure to the elements, such as sun, wind, cold and chemicals, can dry out your skin. Medical conditions, such as diabetes and an underactive thyroid can cause dehydrated skin, as well as skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

You should be gentle with your dry skin care treatment. Cleansing is important, but harsh soaps should be avoided, as well as hot water. A skin cleanser formulated for dry skin, coupled with lukewarm water, is the best way to wash up and should be done twice daily. Avoid vigorous scrubbing and rubbing with washcloths and towels so that a layer of moisture remains on your skin. Follow up with a moisturizer and consider using one with a sunscreen of at least SPF15 to protect your skin from sun exposure during the day.

There are several other helpful ways to hydrate parched skin. Using a humidifier in your home can improve the condition of your skin by keeping the surface hydrated. Avoid detergents with harsh chemicals and strong fragrances, which can irritate your skin. Wear clothing that is made of breathable, natural materials, such as cotton, and avoid itchy fabrics, such as nylon or wool. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water per day to keep your entire body properly hydrated. Finally, a healthy, well-balanced diet that is rich is vitamins A, B5 and C supports healthy skin and overall body fitness.

With a little extra care and attention, your dry skin can be supple, well-nourished and beautiful.

Wrinkles- Stop Them And Look Young For A Longtime

A small wrinkle on the young face creates fear of aging. As we grow we get wrinkles. Most of us get wrinkles first and then rush to get costly and painful treatments done to remove them. How about preventing them? I agree that all of them cannot be probably stopped, but some can be for sure. Let me tell you how?

Wrinkles On Skin- How Do They Form?

Sleep on one side for many years and your face on that side will develop wrinkles. Can we not change our sleeping position after every few days? Do that and find out.

Smoke and you pull your muscles near the mouth. You will develop the typical wrinkles of a smoker called smoker lines soon. Stop smoking and stop that. Moreover smoking also forms more free radicals that damage the healthy collagen in the skin and make your skin sag with typical signs under the eyes, cheeks etc.

Go out in the sun and let the UV strike your face. It will damage the skin immediately. Your upper skin will become thin and the lower supporting skin will become thin. This causes more wrinkles as the support goes away from below and the skin sags. Protect yourself from sun. Wear wide brimmed hats, sunglasses and apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 regularly.

Make more gestures with your face and you will get the lines that will become permanent forever after sometime. Make less gestures and expressions with face and stop those wrinkles. Learn more about wrinkles treatment now so that wrinkles keep away from you.

Use antioxidant creams. Use moisturizers-stop skin from drying. Eat healthy food full of Vitamins and antioxidants. Use formulations prepared for boosting collagen production as you age. Take these preventive steps in your youth and the old age may never come to show on your face. Avoid the costly and painful procedures for getting the youth.

The Basics of Anti-Aging Skin Care

by: Sue Dolan

The very first question most people have when exploring the realm of anti-aging skin care is, “What skin rejuvenation products have been proven to be effective”? Accurate information regarding the multitude of anti-aging treatments flooding the marketplace is the best way to make informed decisions for developing your own skin rejuvenation regime which incorporates the anti-aging skin care techniques, strategies and treatments that best address your personal aging skin issues. The http://www.SkinCareResourceCenter.com explores all facets of anti-aging skin care and skin rejuvenation in the e-knowledge modules of The Skin Care e-Learning and Resource Center.

The basics of effective skin rejuvenation begin with the facts on anti-aging skin care treatments. There are several active ingredients that have been clinically proven to be effective skin rejuvenators. One of the most effective treatments is vitamin A derivatives such a retinol or retinyl palmitate.

The Retin A or Renova vitamin A treatments are the strongest although the most irritating treatments of the vitamin A options and are only available by prescription. If your skin needs major rejuvenation attention, ask your Doctor if you are a candidate for the prescription vitamin A treatment of Retin A or Renova.

If not, including one of the other retinol alternatives in your skin care routine is an excellent strategy. The concentration of over-the-counter retinol products can range up to 1%. The basic rule of thumb is, the higher the concentration, the stronger the treatment. Be forewarned though, read the directions carefully because the stronger retinol products can be quite irritating to the skin. Starting slow and gradually working your way up to higher concentrations will allow you skin to adjust to the treatments better. The vitamin A derivative, Retinyl Palmitate, is the less irritating of the Vitamin A options and is considered to have quite effective rejuvenating qualities.

The next most beneficial anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment is a chemical exfoliant such as an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) or beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) product. The most popular of these acids is an AHA glycolic acid. Glycolic acid should be use in concentrations of 8% to 15% depending on your skin’s sensitivity. Start out with a lower concentration and gradually move up to a 10% then 15% concentration depending on your skin’s tolerance in order to avoid irritation.

The last consideration is including an antioxidant to contain the skin damaging free radicals as well as to encourage overall skin repair. Products containing Vitamin C Ester, Spin Trap, or CoQ10 are all good options to explore. Then, of course, there are other viable anti-aging treatments which can be incorporated into your regime depending on your particular skin rejuvenation needs which include DMAE, Kinerase or Kinetin, and GHK Copper Peptides. Finally, the most critical and essential aspect to any successful skin rejuvenation regime is sunscreen, at least once a day, each and every day!

Sun Tanning And Anti-Aging

by: Grace Palce

People enjoy the relaxing experience of tanning. And they also love its result, a fabulous bronzed skin. But exposure to the ultraviolet radiation, whether from outdoors or from tanning beds, will cause the skin to age considerably. The tanning process takes away skin oils that make the skin elastic and young. Tanning can lead to the appearance of lines and wrinkles. And frequent tanning may make a person look older than his or her age. To prevent this undesirable effect of tanning, one should consider skin care products.

Skin care products are made up of cleansers, masks, toners, moisturizers, and sun blocks. The cleansers, which come as creams and gels, deeply clean the skin. The masks, which are also known as mud packs or exfoliants, peel off old skin. The toners, which should be non-stringent, remove stubborn dirt lodged in the pores. The moisturizers return the protective skin oils. Moisturizers should be different for various types of skins. And the sun blocks shield the skin from the damaging radiation from the sun or tanning bulbs. Then, there are also specialty skin care products such as eye creams that are meant to lessen facial lines, and lip protectors (for lips are special skin) that are used to prevent the lips from chapping due to freezing or scorching temperatures. Women have cosmetic foundations that have SPF (Sun Protection Factor), which range from SPF 5 to 15.

The range of skin care products seems overwhelming. But all these are important to give maximum protection for the skin. Professionals, such as models, actors and actresses, and salon owners, invest in such skin care products because the condition and age of their skin is vital to their jobs. As for regular guys and gals, the use of skin care products will enhance the beauty of their skin and slow down the process of aging. These products also contribute to the health and suppleness of the skin.

The skin care products preferred by most consumers are those made from naturally occurring substances. Synthetically produced substances for skin care products and cosmetic products may create detrimental side effects. This is why most skin care products are composed of extracts from leaves, roots, flowers, and fruits. These botanicals are known to be safe.

Taking care of your skin may seem to take a lot of effort. But you only have one skin. You spend money on it so that it will have a perfect tan. But you must also invest in skin care products to protect your skin from the aging process caused by tanning and to keep your skin health and younger looking.

How Are Antioxidants Linked to Anti-Aging?

by: Carina MacInnes

Antioxidants have been widely praised in the media. Many know they are linked with anti-aging properties. However this is not new, it all began with one man’s theory a half a century ago about how free radicals were associated with aging, and science has been trying to catch up with it ever since.

As Dr. Nicholas Perricone, M.D., states in his 2001 book, “The Wrinkle Cure”: “When it comes to aging, it’s not Father Time that’s public enemy number 1. It’s the very busy, very nasty little molecule called the free radical.”

The Free Radical Theory of Aging was published by Denman Harman in 1956. He theorized that aging is a result of free radical damage of the cells of the body. This is also called oxidative stress.

Today, a great deal of experimental evidence supports the premise that length of life is determined by the crucial balance of antioxidants with free radicals in the body. Oxidative stress is being shown to be at the root of disease and aging.

One example is that the life of the fruit fly was up to 30% longer when it was genetically altered with an addition of enzymatic antioxidants. Not only that, but the altered fruit flies also showed a reduced amount of age-related oxidative damage.

Studies of humans have also shown evidence of free radical damage playing a large part in human aging. One 1996 study compared markers of free radical damage in the blood and found evidence of the highest oxidative damage associated with the disabled elderly, an intermediate amount with the healthy elderly, and the lowest levels with the healthy adults.

The study also found that higher blood levels of antioxidant Vitamins C and E were associated with less disability, and signs of free radical damage were associated with more disability.

We need to rethink our concept of aging. We accept disease, disability, senility, wrinkles, and all the other many signs of aging as natural. Instead, we should view this as ‘unsuccessful aging’ – ie., aging associated with deterioration, disease and disability.

Successful aging is what happens when the human body is able to fight off oxidative stress, and continue to regenerate and repair itself. Successful aging is getting older healthily, without significant pathological conditions.

What the evidence is telling us is that it is crucial we take antioxidants and free radicals very seriously if we want to ‘age gracefully’ and avoid the many pitfalls of ‘unsuccessful aging’.

Even young people can be victims of unsuccessful aging, if they are not providing their bodies with the necessary balance of having have enough dietary antioxidants to fight off the free radicals.

In our modern culture, many of us are guilty of not getting adequate nutrition. It’s ironic, when we are the richest we have ever been that we should be feeding our bodies so poorly.

An interesting example of how a person can seriously damage their body with the wrong diet was seen in the Documentary ‘Super Size Me’ by Morgan Spurlock who ate only McDonald’s for a month. In just 30 days of having a junk food diet as his sole source of nutrition, his health was spiraling downwards and out of control.

The fact that he gained 25 pounds in a month was the least of his worries. He experienced a toxic liver, a significant increase in cholesterol, headaches, depression, a lower sex drive and poor skin. He returned to normal after his experiment ended.

Unfortunately a great many of us continue to do damage to our bodies, by smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, eating junk food, and not eating our vegetables. When the media began warning us of free radicals, many of us did not understand the massive damage we were causing our bodies or how to prevent it, especially as most of the signs of damage are invisible until it is too late.

Free radical damage is accumulative and spreads like wildfire over time. Do your body a favor. Feed it a diet rich in antioxidant nutrition. Make it a habit, eat your fruits and vegetables, take your vitamins, and try to stop or cut down on damaging bad habits. You will thank yourself in 20 years.

Use antioxidants wisely to age successfully. Maybe like the fruit fly, you too can live 30% longer.

Antioxidants: Combating Aging and Disease

by: Sylvia Riley

Wouldn’t we all like to age gracefully (if at all for that matter!) and ward off the wrinkly signs and ill symptoms for as long as possible. Keys to longevity may be more accessible than we think, and it appears our diets play a critical role. Antioxidants are the knights in shining armor that subjugate the attack of free radicals in the body, the hazardous molecules that damage cells and procure aging and disease. Though antioxidants are produced naturally in the body, these decline with age, hence an increasing need to acquire them from the foods in our diet.

Before examining antioxidants more closely, it is important to take a look at the free radicals they serve to neutralize.

Free Radicals

Free radicals are created as by-products in our use of oxygen during metabolism such as the burning of food for energy. They are essentially oxidant molecules that are missing an electron and seek to restore themselves by targeting nearby cells in an attempt to recover this electron, potentially harming enzymes, DNA, proteins and cell membranes in the process. This damage can mutate cells and alter cell function, increasing the risk of numerous diseases and chronic conditions including arthritis, diabetes, cataracts, cancer, heart disease and stroke. Free radical damage is implicated in the onset of aging and its degenerative symptoms and diseases.

As well as generated within the body, free radicals come from environmental sources such as pollution, radiation, unhealthy foods, bacteria, viruses, cigarette smoke and UV light.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants serve to mitigate the harmful effect of free radicals by giving up an electron and stabilizing them in the process. Although we produce many of our own antioxidants within the body, food provides an essential source for these key players of our defense system. Vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients all have antioxidant properties. The most common examples include vitamins A, C and E, selenium and zinc, carotenoids, flavonoids, co-enzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid and glutathione.

As there are many different types of free radicals in the body a variety of antioxidants are required to protect against them. Antioxidants function best as a team, with each other and other nutrients and phytochemicals, which is why incorporating a wide range of plant foods into your diet is recommended. Phytochemical groups such as flavonoids and carotenoids correspond to the colour, taste and smell attributes of plants, hence eating a rainbow array of vegetables and fruits can offer a diverse selection of these potent antioxidants.

Antioxidant Rich Foods

Foods especially high in antioxidants include berries, plums, pomegranates, oranges, spinach, green tea, avocado, kale, broccoli, peas, onions, grapes and pure chocolate.

Scientists at the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) have developed a rating scale that measures the total antioxidant capacity of a given food. This is known as the ORAC score (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity).

Of 40 common fruits and vegetables measured by the USDA, top ranking scores were those of prunes(5770), raisins (2830), blueberries (2400 – highest of all fresh foods with other berries close behind), kale (1770), spinach (1260), Brussels sprouts (980), plums (949), alfalfa sprouts (930), broccoli florets (890), beetroots (840), oranges (750 ), red peppers (710 ) and red grapes (739).

Pure cocoa surpasses all these foods with a whopping score of 26,00 units, more than 10 times the prestigious blueberry (though one is likely to eat far less in quantity). The extraordinary goji berry from Tibet also has outstanding antioxidant capacity with a score of 18,500 units; hardly surprising as they contain 500 times more vitamin C than oranges and even more beta-carotene than carrots!

According to studies on animals and human blood at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts in Boston, high-ORAC foods may slow aging processes in the body and brain. Results found that high ORAC foods such as blueberries and spinach could increase the antioxidant power of human blood by 10-25%, prevent loss of long-term memory and learning ability in middle-aged rats, and protect rat blood vessels against oxygen damage.

Antioxidants and Aging

As we age, free radical levels rise and yet the body falls short in producing necessary amounts of antioxidants to meet this challenge. For example, cells generate more of the oxidants hydrogen peroxide and superoxide, yet levels of the necessary antioxidant glutathione required to neutralise these decline. The Free Radical Theory of Aging, first proposed by Harman in 1954, is supported by cross-species examination of animals with regard to life span, free radical damage and antioxidant defence. For example, the white-footed mouse lives about twice as long as the house mouse (8 versus 4 years), and is found to generate less oxidants and have higher levels of antioxidants. As Beckman and Ames write in The Free Radical Theory of Ageing Matures (1998), ‘Together, interspecies comparisons of oxidative damage, antioxidant defences, and oxidant generation provide some of the most compelling evidence that oxidants are one of the most significant determinants of life span.’

Very recent evidence comes from a study on dogs at the University of Toronto by Dr. Dwight Tapp and colleagues who found that ‘old dogs that were on an antioxidant diet performed better on a variety of cognitive tests than dogs that were not on the diet. In fact, the dogs eating antioxidant-fortified foods performed as well as young animals’.

Additional research by Dr. Rabinovitch and his team, studying aging at the University of Washington, Seattle, found that mice engineered to produce high levels of an antioxidant enzyme (catalase) lived 20 per cent longer and had less heart and other age-related diseases than controls.

In light of the role free radicals play in the onset of aging and disease, it is important to ensure our diets include a rich and diverse supply of antioxidants. These protective agents can be found abundantly in vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds and are particularly high in superfoods.

Skin Care Anti-Aging Guide

by Lorraine Weston

Why is it that the skin of a newborn baby can conjure up feelings of envy in many of us? Simply because, as we age, our skin loses that satiny-smooth feeling it once had. Our environment, our age, what we eat, and the amount of sleep we get all play a part in the look and feel of our skin.

Because most of us have, at some point in our lives, not followed all the rules when it comes to proper skin care, we may feel that it is too late to do anything about it now. Thankfully, there is hope! Let's look at a few tools that can help slow the aging process and give our skin a youthful glow:

1. What you are is what you eat Remember that old saying? It is true that by consuming fruits and vegetables, especially brightly coloured fruit and leafy greens, we are giving our bodies vitamins and antioxidants that combat the breakdown of collagen and elastin in our skin. Also important is to make sure to drink water every day. Studies tell us different amounts to drink, from 2 glasses to 8, but they all agree on one thing: drinking water is good for you!

2. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize Think of all the hot showers and baths you have taken; sure, they clean your skin, but they also dry it out. Our skin gets drier as part of the aging process, too. So, the best thing to combat dryness, of course, is to get some moisturizer and apply it! Your local drug store or beauty spa sells a great variety of moisturizers, and one of them will be just the right one for your skin. Ask the beauty advisor or pharmacist for assistance if you're not sure which one to buy.

3. Sun exposure = sun damage You can enjoy the warmth of the sun without damaging your skin simply by wearing sunscreen. An SPF rating of 15 or higher is recommended, and it's important to reapply if you are outside for long periods of time, or have been swimming or exercising. The UVA and UVB rays that come from the sun contribute to wrinkles, dryness, and of course sunburn. There is also the risk of skin cancer. So, take a couple of minutes to slather on some sunscreen, and have fun in the outdoors while taking care of your skin!

4. The AHA Factor AHA, or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, is a chemical commonly found in moisturizers and other skin care products. If your skin is looking dull, AHA works to get rid of old skin cells and get your skin looking soft and healthy.

5. Get your beauty sleep Take time to get some sleep - at least 7 to 8 hours per night. While we sleep, our bodies recharge and prepare for a new day. Our skin recharges too. So, no matter how busy your day is, keep an eye on that clock, and before it gets late, take a few moments to relax and unwind. This will help you get the restful sleep you, and your skin, need.

The cure for aging

by Ian Tham

There are lots of things you can do to prevent aging.

Don't smoke. Smoking causes the skin to age. Try to reduce the level of stress in your life. Stress causing aging in your skin too.

Drink plenty of water. Exercise and eat a proper diet and have plenty of rest too. These food are said to prevent aging like olive oil, cantaloupe, vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, garlic, chives, shallots, onions and soy products, fruits like mangoes, apricots, blueberries, citrus fruit (such as limes, lemons, grapefruit, oranges, kiwi), guava, apples, strawberries, grapes, cherries, grains like oat bran, herbs like green tea and finally fish like tuna, salmon, mackerel sardines and trout. Fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids which is beneficial to your health. Omega-3 fatty acids are vital to skin cells keeping them moist and strong, They lower the risk of heart disease and at the same time boost your immune system. Avoid eating too much sugar. Sugar which is an oxidant and has the opposite effect of antioxidants. Excess sugar in the bloodstream causes the sugar to attach itself to collagen in a process known as glycation which makes the skin lose its elasticity. Wrinkles also begin to appear.

Now we go to the specifics.

You need to apply sunblock lotion. The uv rays in sunlight damages your skin. Most people have the conception of applying sunblock only on the beaches and sun tanning. You also need to look at the SP Factor. The higher the better as it blocks out more uv light. Fairer skin needs better protection than darker skin.

Antioxidants play a role in protecting skin cells from damage by free radicals. Free radicals damage the skin cells and causes the skin to wrinkle and lose elasticity. Vitamins A , C, and E are antioxidants. Antioxidant minerals include selenium, zinc, copper and iron.Other anti-oxidants are carotenoids beta-carotene, lycopene and lutein and enzymes like coenzyme Q10 and alpha lipoic acid . Research has shown a combination of two antioxidants is more effective.

Retinoids and Alpha hydroxy acids help to remove the top layer of cells and stimulate collagen production to smoothen the skin. Retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A while Alpha hydroxy acids are acids derived from fruit, milk or sugar.

Anti-aging moisturizers are crucial in the battle against aging. There are two types of moisturizers. Day time cream acts as a natural protective film to prevent moisture loss and also protects against bacteria and pollutants and lastly gives your skin a fresher look. Night creams are designed to be absorbed into the skin providing nourishment. These are some of the ingredients you should look out for: petrolatum, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and cyclomethicone.

This article deals with a few safe, easy ways to start anti aging therapy for yourself in the comfort of your own home. The advice here comes mainly from personal experience and is not intended to replace proper medical advice and treatment. Always consult a doctor before beginning any kind of home therapy if you have health issues that may make light exercise difficult or hazardous.

As we age, we start noticing little things more; wrinkles, age spots, the way the veins on the backs of our hands stick up. Nothing is ever going to completely erase the marks of the hand of time, of course. But there are steps we can take to ensure that age finds us healthy and still living a full, vital life.

The first and most important step in any kind of anti aging therapy is learning to be comfortable with yourself at whatever age you are. Life is not over at fifty, or sixty, or even eighty or ninety, unless you let it be. Life will change; when we speak of anti aging therapy, we mean less stopping age and more controlling it.

The second most important step is to stay healthy. If you thought that eating right and getting plenty of exercise were something that you would be able to set aside once you reached retirement age--think again! An essential part of anti aging therapy involves keeping your body at its best through diet and exercise. Find some method of light exercise that you enjoy, and make time to do it daily. If at all possible, make sure that you really enjoy it; that makes it all the easier to do it regularly, and regularity is the key to any anti aging therapy.

Third, become involved in an activity that gives back to the community around you. Many seniors view the years after retirement as the taking years; they've given their time to their jobs for years, and now it's time to take it for themselves. But becoming involved in some form of community activity will give you a more positive outlook on life, which translates into a sparkle in your eye and a spring in your step. Giving back is one of the most effective methods of anti-aging therapy.

Any of these anti aging therapies can help you stay younger longer, but they work best when you follow all of them to the best of your ability.

An Anti-Ageing Secret You Won't Find In 99% Of Women's Magazines

by Owen Sampson

Have you ever wondered why the average black women of even 60 and over have few if any wrinkles on their face at all?

Well, whilst there are natural oils that are found within black skin, there is still the essential requirement of a dedicated skin care regime.

Integral to that regime for many black women and increasingly men also, is the core ingredient Raw Shea Butter.

Raw Shea Butter is something that has long been used in West Africa for skin care. The fatty acids contained inside help keep skin smooth and rejuvenated. Traditionally it was used to treat skin and scalp conditions, but now it is often found in skin treatments to ward off wrinkles and fine lines.

To make Raw Shea Butter, the nuts from the Shea Karite tree are needed. They get cracked, grilled, pounded then boiled in water for hours. The extracted Raw Shea Butter is then scooped from the water and set aside to cool. Alone and separated from the water, the Raw Shea Butter will keep for about two years.

Within the Raw Shea Butter, there are several compounds responsible for the benefits. Fatty oils help maintain the skin's moisture and elasticity. Cinnamic acid works to protect your skin from UV rays. Raw Shea Butter also helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks, making it extremely useful for women who are pregnant or have children. With Raw Shea Butter being very neutral in composition, it very rarely causes an allergic reaction.

Raw Shea Butter can be used with great effect in many forms. Soaps made from it are excellent choices to use on skin affected by eczema and dermatitis. It also puts more vitamin A and E into the skin which keeps it moisturized and soft. Lotions are another common way to get Raw Shea Butter. The benefits of a lotion are similar to soaps but are a lot more noticeable and concentrated. This makes it ideal for use in the winter months, when it's drier.

For skincare, Raw Shea Butter is one of the best anti-aging compounds nature or science can provide. With benefits ranging from retaining skin moisture to protecting against UV rays, there are few things that can match what it does. When looking for your next facial care product, keep Raw Shea Butter in mind.

The true secret is to use a product that contains the highest grade of Raw Shea Butter available and not just any product that displays Raw Shea Butter on the label.

High grade Raw Shea butter is equally effective on women of all colors, white, black and Asian as it meets the standard you should be looking for in order to obtain, maintain and retain your best skin ever.

Anti Aging Supplements - Fight Wrinkles From Within

Author: Rebecca Prescott

Choosing antioxidants to supplement your regular skin routine is an approach that has been validated scientifically. A study by French scientists found that woman taking vitamin C, vitamin E, and betacarotene had 23% fewer new wrinkles, and a reduction in existing wrinkles of 8%. Antioxidants stop the breakdown of collagen and elastin by free radicals.

Foods with the highest levels of antioxidants, as measured by the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbence capacity), listed from the highest: prunes, raisins, blueberries, kale, cranberries, spinach, raspberries, brussel sprouts, plums and broccoli.

Vitamin A is another important nutrient for the skin. A deficiency in vitamin A will reduce the effectiveness of skin treatments. Vitamin A is needed for the normal growth and renewal of skin cells. Our skin cells are constantly replacing each other, and new ones are pushed up to the surface as the old ones slough off. Not only is vitamin A an antioxidant, but it also nourishes the fat layer underneath the skin. Vitamin A keeps skin supple, and may prevent skin damage.

Symptoms of vitamin A deficiency include dry and rough skin, localized breakouts, fragile skin, wrinkle prone skin, poor skin texture, and splitting nails.

One thing to remember with taking vitamin A supplements is not to exceed the recommended daily dose, as it can build up in your body if taken in excess. Taking 10000 IU per day is fine.

Vitamin C is another important beauty supplement. Not only does it help in skin repair by building collagen, but lower levels of vitamin C in the skin are associated with aging and UV damage. Taking 500mg to 2000mg per day, in divided doses, is recommended.

An excellent antioxidant supplement to take is alpha lipoic acid (ALA), especially if you‘re taking the other antioxidant vitamins C and E, and coenzyme Q10. Alpha lipoic acid is not only an antioxidant in its own right, but it has the capacity to recycle these other antioxidants. Alpha lipoic acid is also an anti inflammatory agent, and improves insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is associated with obesity and heart disease. ALA increases the rate at which glucose is removed from the bloodstream, and helps the body detoxify metals that have accumulated. Alpha lipoic acid also prevents the cross linking of fibers, which leads to aging and the development of wrinkles.

Alpha lipoic acid is produced by the body, but only in small amounts. It is used by the cells in their production of cellular energy, and we only benefit from its antioxidant effects if the amount of ALA in our bodies is greater than that which our cells need for normal functioning. And, unfortunately, the levels of ALA in our body decline as we age.

One advantage of alpha lipoic acid is that it is both fat and water soluble. This means it can work in all parts of our body, making it very versatile. Most antioxidants are either fat or water soluble, but not both. For example, vitamin A is fat soluble, and vitamin C is water soluble.

Taking about 50 to 100mg of alpha lipoic acid supplements a day has been suggested, though this supplement has not been tested on pregnant or breast feeding women.

How To Use Apt Anti Aging Skin Care Techniques?

by Burt Cotton

Some things in life never change, and some things keep on changing. The statement seems highly relevant when we consider the aspect of skin. The aging process of the skin keeps on happening. You cannot reverse it, you cannot change it. But still you want to remain young forever. So what are your options? How can you maintain that glow, that softness, that radiance on your skin in tact? In fact how far you can run from the dark cloud of aging?

Well, the answer lies within the question. If you want to prolong the aging process, you would need an anti-aging element. Yes, you guessed it right; I am talking about the anti-aging skin care for you.

With the modern anti-aging skin care products, it does not seem difficult to prolong the appearance of aging symptoms on the face. After the invention and success of anti-aging skin care process, people have regained their spirits of looking beautiful regardless of age.

Today, one of the biggest and successful areas in the field of cosmetic facial treatments is anti-aging care. People want their overall looks and appearance to be attractive even after 50 or 60 years of age. It will not be exaggeration if we say that they are into head on competition with the younger generation in the race of beauty. People have not been that desperate to look young ever before, than they are today.

And leading ahead in this anti-aging race are women. It seems that they want to remove the word old from their dictionary. We all introduce ourselves to this world as little babies. Gradually we grow up as children, teenagers, adults and old people. During this transformation course, the texture, softness and radiance of the skin encounters frequent changes.

You can see the effects of aging on your skin along with certain other factors like type of skin, genes, chemical exposure, sun exposure, pollution and much more. All these factors leave a negative effect on your skin in the form of skin damage, counting wrinkles, lines and spots. Other common aging effects becoming common with age are pre-cancerous skin changes or actinic keratosis. Considering all these aspects, it becomes even more essential for you to take care of your skin and prevent it from pre-mature aging symptoms.

The anti-aging skin care works with the principle that it is impractical to discontinue the natural process of aging; still it is possible to put it into the rear seat. There are many choices available in anti-aging skin care to delay the process of aging. It primarily includes medical treatments and cosmetic surgery. The anti-aging solutions and treatments are proliferating in the form of various anti-aging products. These anti-aging products are quite effective. They can be taken for both internal and external treatment.

Beside the use of the cosmetic products, advanced skin treatments and surgeries have also come up as the part of anti-aging skin care. These modern skin care techniques are made to minimize the effects of aging as much as possible. In most of the cases, the treatments use cosmetic techniques and offer you a rejuvenated and youthful appearance that is more beautiful than ever before. From powerful lasers to Botox injections; and to chemical peels, anti-aging products work to treat wrinkles and discolored spots. You will be glad to know that skin physicians and aestheticians have a great arrangement of tools in their kits to fight all the effects of aging.

If you wish to prolong the aging process and want to look young for a very long time, get up and embrace the techniques of anti-aging skin care. Anti-aging skin care works like miracle that is there for all to see.

Acne & Wrinkles at My Age?

Author: keith londrie

Puberty brought bouts of acne. In your 20s, finding Mr. or Mrs. Right was of chief consequence. When the 30s hit, you worked to raise little Johnnie or Suzie to be a model kid. Now that your hitting the fabulous 40s, you should be coasting through life, right. Well, why are you suddenly dealing with the cosmetic double whammy of acne and wrinkles? Even your insurance company figures that you should have gotten rid of acne by the age of 25.

The number people over 30 needing acne treatments has climbed to the extent that a report published in Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology recommends raising the age for insurance coverage of the acne drug tretinoin to at least 40. The authors of the report, Drs. Steven Feldman and Alan Fleischer, add that many insurance companies refuse to pay for tretinoin prescriptions for patients older than 25.

Cosmetic Catch 22 Even if your insurance company leaves you to fend for yourself, you still have options for freeing yourself from acne and wrinkles. At first, coping with acne and wrinkles may seem like a cosmetic catch 22. Do you dry your skin with acne cleansers containing benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, and worsen your wrinkles? Or, do you smear on the moisturizer to smooth the wrinkles, but cope with the zits brought on by the extra oil or sensitivity to a new product?

There's a smarter way to handle acne and wrinkles.

1. Interpret the acne

2. Allow your skin to improve as you use self-awareness to remove zits.

Interpret the acne

While dealing with acne and wrinkles, target the acne first because acne is an autoimmune disease. Having an autoimmune disease means that your thoughts, emotions, and/or environment are affecting you in an adverse way and require immediate attention. Thus, acne may reveal that you need to relax more, change your eating habits, reframe your interpersonal dialogue, stop dating that jerk from the office and/or make another beneficial alteration to your lifestyle.

Zits arrive on your face to report on some unpleasant activities within your body and life. Once you get feedback from these zits, you can take action to send the zits away while augmenting your health in the process.

Acne is usually an indication various hidden or overlooked health problems. Here's a sample of the questions you should ask yourself when dealing with acne so that you can unravel the mystery behind your zits. Are you:

Regular?

About 70% of your immune system is located in your intestines. If this area is blocked with waste, your immuno-defenses are down. So, instead of waste leaving your body via the rectum, it chooses to leave through the skin. Waste leaving the skin can cause an infection that presents itself as acne.

Tense?

Tension likewise reduces the vigor of the immune system. Take a few deep breaths throughout the day to calm your body. Take a long walk in the fresh air to wind down.

Eating nutritionally?

Cases of acne have been improved with consuming foods containing zinc, essential fatty acids, vitamin A and a host of other nutrients. All of these vital nutrients are available in leafy green vegetables, fruits and olive oil.

Worried about unresolved issues?

Not resolving personal issues creates conflict and tension in the body. Again, these issues most be addressed to avoid undue stress within the body.

Exercising daily?

Exercise reduces stress and gives you an opportunity to subconsciously contemplate challenges that you may be facing. Physical activity also keeps your muscles and intestines toned, which keeps encourages regularity.

Changing pillowcase frequently?

Using a dirty pillowcase aggravates an acne condition. Your face naturally secretes oils during the night. These oils are sticky. So if you pillowcase if dirty, you are allowing your face to collect extra waste during the night, which could further clog your pores.

Moving or changing your job/career?

New demands or feelings of lose can sometimes accompany change. Transfer these emotions into something constructive by writing in a journal or envisioning how these changes are going to benefit you. Find comfort in these changes and opportunities for new beginnings.

Experiencing excessive facial hair growth and erratic periods?

Conditions such as acne, excessive facial hair, and erratic periods could indicate an androgen disorder or other underlying hormonal imbalances. Your doctor can provide you with a series of endocrine tests to ascertain your hormone levels and what corrective actions you should take. Ricardo Azziz, M.D, who serves as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Director of the Center for Androgen-Related Disorders at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, estimates that 80 percent of women with excessive androgen levels suffer from an endocrine disorder called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Dr. Azziz adds that women with PCOS often have insulin resistance and are at increased risk for developing Type II diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

Once the acne is under control you can move on to the wrinkles. Another reason for treating the zits first is because if you alter your lifestyle in such as way as to free yourself from acne, and you doing this in a healthy and patient fashion, you will actually lessen the number of wrinkles you have.

Health is wholeness and beauty is a reflection of robust health. You'll never buy robust health in a jar. It is a mind, body, spirit and environmental support system that garners full-bodied health. Lets look at want you actually need from a "beauty cream".

Face Cream Education There are five basic ingredients in any given anti-aging or anti-wrinkling cream.

1. The oil or moisturizer

2. The preservatives to keep the cream from spoiling.

3. A scent or flavor

4. A color

5. The active ingredient.

Only one of these components is essential, the oil. The preservative is only needed to keep the cream useful. Your face does not need preservation because the skin is alive. Since some people have allergies to scents and colors in cosmetics, the body says that these two ingredients are not necessary. The active ingredient is usually the latest cosmetic drug or multivitamin that is supposed to lift or dramatically reverse your age by 5-20 years.

Researchers S. Jay Olshansky, Leonard Hayflick and Bruce A. Carnes bluntly comment on the antics of cosmetic companies in their report No Truth to the Fountain of Youth, published in the June 2002 edition of Scientific American. The authors warn everyone aiming to reverse the signs of times on their face that, "? anyone purporting to offer an anti-aging product today is either mistaken or lying".

I bet you are thinking, "Won't that oil make acne worse?" The answer is not if you are using the right oil. Some essential oils such as bergamont, lavender, lemon, neroli, sandalwood, tea tree and ylang ylang have cleansing and antibacterial properties which help combat acne infections. Other essential oil like geranium, clary sage and orange regulate the production of oil on the face. When mixed with a carrier oil such as jojoba or camellia, these essential oils are ideal moisturizers.

Nothing that you put on your face will truly change your appearance. Creams are useful, but they are only one instrument in an orchestra of anti-aging concerts. Health starts on the inside. If you want to improve your beauty start with how you treat yourself and feed yourself. I mean not only what foods you eat but what thoughts you eat.

You may eat thoughts of the sort, "I can't?", "I had a stressful day", "I'm tired of?", "I can't wait until?", "I'm getting old", "My body isn't as healthy as it used to be". The menu is endless. If you want to look young and healthy, you have to think young and healthy thoughts. Here's steps to jumpstart your quest:

Start by changing your thinking. Develop your own youth model, i.e. with steps you'll take to maintain your vitality and stick to it.

Enjoy nutritious foods. A study in the Journal of American College of Nutrition found that eating a variety of fruits and vegetables and using olive oil every day could help keep wrinkles away. The researchers found that people who ate a diet rich in green leafy vegetables, beans, olive oil, nuts and multigrain breads, while avoiding butter, red meat and sugary goodies, were less predisposed to wrinkling. Researchers believe that antioxidant vitamins, such as A, C and E, which are found in fruits and vegetables, may help protect the skin from environmental damage.

Use a gentle cleanser each day.

Steam your face everyday for 5-15 minutes, especially if your have acne. The steam removes waxy build-up on the skin while it stimulates circulation. This combo of benefits cleans to pores to reduce the possibility of acne while firming up the skin and facial muscles.

Exfoliate your skin daily.

Moisturize your face in the morning and evening with natural oils. In addition to the acne fighting oils listed above, you can mix essential oils such as frankinsense, myrrh, neroli and rose to help encourage the growth of new skin cells. You can create a moisturizer by diluting 1-3 of your favorite essential oils in a carrier oil such as jojoba or camellia oil in a ration of 1 part essential oil to 3 parts carrier oil.

Massage your face daily when you apply your facial oil.

Lie down on an incline bench for 5-20 minutes each day to let the blood flow to your head.

Wear a sunhat in the sun.

Give yourself a light skin peel once a month.

Finally, forty can still be fabulous and your beauty-plan a lot less enigmatic. Just remember the basics, interpret the messages of your zits, and educate yourself about wrinkle creams- you don't need them.

Acne Care - Determine Your Skin Type

Author: Gerald Njuguna

People have different type of skins which determines in a big way how acne will affect it and what type of treatment to use on it. Also it will determine what products to use to generally care for the skin.

Some questions have to be asked before seeking treatment. First, how often do you break out? Do you have blackheads? What do your pores look like? After washing with soap, how does your skin look and feel? Do you have facial lines? By asking yourself these questions, you can determine what types of products will work best for you and how your skin might react to them.

The three basic skin types are:dry, oily, normal. One can have either of the three or a combination of them, e.g normal to oily, or normal to dry. Each skin type or combination requires different treatment products.

Now each of this skin types has different types of the following characteristics:texture, oil production and frequency of breakouts.Dry skin usually has the least number of breakouts since it produces little oil.Oil is the one which causes pores to clog resulting in pimples.

Dry skin usually has nearly visible pores and may feel dry and tight after washing.People with this type of skin are usually fair skinned and develop facial lines earlier in life. However this skin type also burns easily.

Normal skin is characterized by occassional breakouts and blackheads in the T-zone.This zone is the area on the forehead and either side of the nose.Pores often appear visible in the t-zone, and the skin may feel tight after washing. The skin is usually fair to medium with facial lines appearing early around the eyes.it burns when exposed to sun but thereafter tans.

Oily skin suffers the most breakouts with blackheads and due to it's oily nature often appears as shiny after washing. The color is usually olive to dark -what Africans have-and doesn't age as fast as the other skin types. This means that facial lines rarely do occur. On exposure to the sun, it tans easily and rarely burns.

The key to finding the right treatment for your skin is to determine it's type. Each type has specific treatment producsts for it. Once you determine this, you can be on your way to treat the acne in the correct way.

Wrinkles - How to Stop the Aging Process

Author: Sunisa Martin
Copyright: 2004

The topic of wrinkles probably makes you cringe -- hopefully not too much though or else you will add some new wrinkles to your face. We all get them and as we age most of us women want to reduce them.

Wrinkles are caused by a loss of collagen and elastin. These are tissues in the skin that make it firm and elastic. The degree of wrinkling depends on your genetic makeup and the pace your skin wrinkles is dependent on smoking, dry skin and sun exposure. The sun can play a big part in wrinkling especially in the case of sunburns so avoid the sun whenever possible. Believe it or not, facial expressions can also play a roll in wrinkles such smiling, cringing and frowning.

So what can you do to reduce or slow the wrinkling process?

The following items can play a role in slowing, stopping or
improving wrinkles:

Retin-A
Vitamin C
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)
Laser Resurfacing
Collagen Injections
Chemical Peels
Botox Injections
Fat Transfer
Moisturizers
Sunscreen

A definition for each one of these products or procedures is beyond the scope of this article but all of these treatments can help depending on the severity of your wrinkles.

Here are some tips for looking after your skin as you get older:

* Use a sunscreen every day. This will prevent further aging of your skin.
* Give up smoking.
* Avoid over-washing. As your skin does not sweat as much when you are older.
* Use a 'cream bar' or 'cream body wash', rather than soap.
* After bathing or showering, apply a body cream. This is better than using bath oil, which can make the bath or shower dangerously slippery.

Can improving your diet prevent wrinkles?

According to New Scientist (July 2001) researchers studied over 400 elderly people and their eating habits. They found the least wrinkly seniors had maintained a diet that consisted of eating a lot of beans, fish, vegetables, low- fat milk and tea. The wrinkliest seniors had consumed lots of soft drinks, cakes, red meat, pastries and full-fat dairy produce. Draw your own conclusions, but a good balanced diet at very least can keep your weight under control.

We recently have become aware of a wrinkle removal product which we have not personally tried yet but have ordered free samples. Tips For Reducing Wrinkles

by Bhamah

Reducing wrinkles is a major concern for both women and men. Wrinkling is a fact of life that affects all people, but certain lifestyle choices can make wrinkles appear sooner. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation, either from the sun or the use of tanning beds is a major cause of premature aging of the skin. In addition, doing this can cause malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.

Other Lifestyle Choices that Affect Your Skin:

o Smoking increases wrinkles and ages your skin. Don't smoke and if you do, quit to reduce both damage to your skin and your overall health.

o Diet can affect your skin. Eat a healthy diet that includes a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. These are antioxidant rich foods that can help keep your skin firmer longer.

o Dehydration can increase wrinkling. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your body and skin. You should have a minimum of eight glasses of water every day.

o Avoid alcohol, which causes the skin to sag and become puffy. People who drink a lot of alcohol often look older than those who don't drink at all, or only drink occasionally. For your skin, the worst time to consume alcohol is before bed.

o Excessive stress affects your skin. Do what you can to reduce the stress in your life. Relaxation techniques, yoga, prayer, reading the Bible and meditation are excellent ways to reduce stress. This will help you look and feel better.

o Don't sleep on your face, but on your back instead. Sleeping on your face increases wrinkling and increases the effects of gravity on your skin.

Take good care of your skin to help combat the signs of aging. Don't over wash your face; limit washing to twice each day. This is especially true if your tap water contains chlorine or other chemicals used in water purification. Consider having a water filter installed, or use purified water to wash your face, if you find the chlorine irritating. Never wash in very hot water, which is drying.

Use only mild facial cleansers that contain moisturizing ingredients. Stay away from soap, especially deodorant soaps, which are very drying to the skin. After you have washed your face, pat dry and use a moisturizer. Look for products that are oil free. Water based lotion is best for moisturizing the skin without clogging your pores.

Antioxidants help reduce the signs of aging on your skin. These are found in food, vitamins and skin care products. The best sources are vitamin A, C, E. Antioxidants destroy free radicals, which cause cellular damage, age the skin and cause skin cancer. There is evidence that they work best when combined. For example, vitamins C and E work better together than either vitamin alone. Vitamin A is often found in both prescription and over the counter topical ointments.

Retin A is a prescription topical cream that contains vitamin A. a prescription is needed from the dermatologist for this medication. Retin A treats wrinkling caused by aging and sun exposure. It takes between two and six months to see noticeable improvement. Side effects include redness, burning, itching and scaling, which can last for a few months. In addition, it can cause photosensitivity. You should avoid sunlight and wear a sunscreen when outside in the sun. Pregnant women should not use this cream, as it can cause birth defects in the unborn child.

Retinol is a natural form of vitamin A. It is found in over the counter ointments. There are fewer side effects with Retinol than with the stronger Retin A. Using antioxidant creams containing vitamin C or E may increase the benefits of retinol. These are sometimes found combined in one cream, or can be applied separately.

If you want to see results sooner, you should have regular facials as this will help remove dead cells on your skin and revitalize and maintain your youthful skin texture. You will see results fast, without having to wait several months for improvements. Always keep up with your home care, combined with regular facial treatments, you can look young even after 50.
