Skin Care for All Ages

by David Chandler

American women are taking better care of their skin, seeking out sophisticated serums and lotions that will prevent or lessen signs of aging. With today's technology and medical advances a longer life span demands even greater discipline and understanding for anti aging skin care. Serious skin care regimes include cleansers, moisturizers, body lotions, eye cream, and sunscreens.

The skin around the eyes is the most prone to premature aging, showing signs of stress with wrinkles, crows feet and sagging. Rapid weight loss can also cause wrinkles by reducing the volume of fat cells that cushion the face. Relax; a tense face encourages the formation of wrinkles, especially around the outer eyes, bridge of nose, and on the forehead. By the age of 20 early signs of damage and wrinkles in skin are visible. Protecting your skin from exposure to ultraviolet radiation is the most significant thing you can do to prevent wrinkles, sagging, and discoloration. UV light creates free radicals, which induce lipids peroxidation, which leads to skin damage, wrinkles and skin cancer. Both UVA and UVB rays cause damage leading to wrinkles, lower immunity against infection, ageing skin disorders, and cancer. Did you know that dermatologists can identify the side of the face you sleep on just by looking at your wrinkles.

Botox injections have been used to reduce wrinkles on the face, and remove the frown lines on the forehead. Produced by bacteria, Botox is a chemical agent, which has the ability to paralyze these muscles, and thus reduce or "soften" wrinkles. Retinoids are also clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and may boost skin-firming collagen production.

When vitamin C is properly delivered into skin cells, there is a good chance to reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture. In addition, regular use of cucumber peels and lotions prevents pimples, blackheads, wrinkles, and dryness of the face. Cleansers are also an essential skin care product since they aid in the removal or dirt, make-up and dead skin cells from the skin. By far, the most important skin care product available to prevent wrinkles and skin cancer is sunscreen, but most people do not use sunscreen correctly.

Young people are realizing the necessity of following an anti aging skin care regimen that incorporates quality of physical, psychological and spiritual health. In order to keep the skin healthy - take care of it and your daily regimen of skin care will take care of you. Drink plenty of water in your daily skin care regimen, especially after exercising. A good skin care regimen need not take hours every day, but must be, without fail, be attended to every day.

Drink plenty of water in your daily skin care regimen, especially after exercising. In fact, skin care and protection should be an essential part of your health, fitness, and beauty regime. If you are thinking about a skin-rejuvenating treatment of any type, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your plastic surgeon.

Eating a balanced and nutritious diet Your diet consumption plays an important factor in maintenance and functioning of your body. Eating a diet, rich in essential nutrients, ensure that your body does not suffer from lack any important nutrients.

You should eat a low fat diet, but it should have high carbohydrate and other nutrient contents. Ideally you should consume 5 vegetables everyday. Greens, salads and fruits should be taken in large quantities regularly. Along with this you should have 3 servings of whole grains everyday. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Healthy eating habits are the basics to a long healthy life.

You should include antioxidants like tomatoes, squash, and spinach in your food. A standard daily intake of antioxidants should include 250 mg of vitamin C and up to 400 IU of vitamin E. One should also include a mixed supplement of about 10 mg of carotenoid. Intake of antioxidants can surely prove to be a eliminator of aging catalysts in the body.

Recommended Anti-Aging Skin Care Regimes

written by Christopher Buckley

There are a multitude of anti-aging techniques and methods offered by experts, and many anti-aging skin care products available on the market. However, the key to avoid undesirable wrinkles and aging of the skin is to follow a strict personal routine related to your nutrition, exercise, and hygiene etc. Some of these basic steps and practices will be useful while taking care of your skin in order to prevent aging.

Creams and lotions are quite helpful in moisturizing the outer skin but they hardly penetrate the pores. Water naturally hydrates the skin from within and prevents drying of the skin. Therefore, you need to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water in order to maintain supple and well-hydrated skin.

When handling detergents, do not use products containing harsh chemicals such as Lauryl Sulfate, as they can strip oil and moisture from the skin. Chlorine, as found in tap water, can also cause oxidative damage on your skin. The best way to avoid harm from chlorine is to avoid washing your face more than once a day, take less frequent showers, and decrease the temperature of the water.

Premature skin aging can also be the result of excessive exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun. Always apply sunscreen lotion on your face and body when exposed to the suns rays, this can be highly effective in protecting your skin from sunburn, skin aging and serious conditions such as skin cancer. Sunglasses will protect the skin around your eyes from harmful UV light so always remember to wear them when out in the sun.

Regular exercises of the face stabilize the flow and circulation of blood and oxygen in the skin. They also assist in the regeneration of collagen (fibrous protein constituent of bone, cartilage, tendon, and other connective tissue) giving the skin its elasticity, thereby preventing wrinkles and revitalizing your facial skin.

Lack of sleep often results in the creation of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes, eventually leading to wrinkles. Sleep helps you to relax and naturally revitalizes the skin, so you should aim for a minimum of eight hours of sleep per day. Remember to remove all makeup thoroughly before going to bed, and always sleep with the face up thereby minimizing the stretching effect of gravity on your skin.

Do not smoke. It contributes to premature wrinkling and sagging of the skin. One study showed that some forty to fifty year olds who smoked only during their teens and twenties, later experienced excessive wrinkling. Smokers who quit did regain the color on their cheeks but never lost their wrinkles. It is also believed that smoking activates genes involved in the destruction of collagen.

Aromatherapy

article written by Douglas Adams

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants to enhance health and appearance. The term was coined by its originator, the French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse.

Aromatherapy is used for a wide variety of problems, ranging from anxiety and insomnia to acne, cellulite, and aging skin.

Each essential oil has its own characteristic aroma and profile of therapeutic properties. Some oils are soothing and relaxing, others are stimulating and invigorating. Certain fragrances have an effect on a user's mental state: jasmine and neroli may lift depression, marjoram soothes anxiety, and peppermint can enhance mental concentration. But an even greater number of essential oils are physically therapeutic and possess antibacterial, antiseptic, or anti-inflammatory properties. These can be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of such common infections as colds and influenza.

There are several ways to use essential oils to reap the full benefits of aromatherapy. Choose those oils with the properties that are most suited to the effect desired, and use them either singly or in combinations of no more than two or three at a time.

On the skin essential oils are highly concentrated: always mix an essential oil with a carrier oil before applying it to the skin. Add one to three drops of essential oil to a teaspoonful of vegetable oil such as almond, soybean, grape seed, avocado, or wheat germ oil. Store larger quantities of unused oil in a bottle made of tinted glass and keep in a cool place. Apply the mixture directly onto the skin, rubbling it in gently.

Oily Skin Care Tips

article written by Jennifer Puffer

Oily skin can be difficult to deal with but with the right products and techniques it can be managed. One of the most prevalent problems associated with oily skin is breakouts. The excess oil on the skin makes it difficult to prevent blockage of the pores. Another problem that is a result of oily skin is the inability to maintain a desired look with makeup. Following a few oily skin care tips can help alleviate both of these problems.

Preventing breakouts on oily skin can be possible by following a few oily skin care tips. First, washing your face at least twice a day can help to prevent breakouts by preventing pores from getting clogged. Pay close attention to only wash a few times a day because excess washing may only deplete the skin of natural oils that your skin products. It may take a while before you find the right product that will work with your skin type but once you find something that is right be sure to stick with it. Oily skin may also react with certain types of sunblock and moisturizers so when shopping for types of products read the label and be sure they are oil free and won't clog your pores.

Preventing makeup from running and smearing can also be prevented with specific oily skin care tips. One of these tips is to choose a water based foundation. This is important because oil based foundations will only compound your oily skin condition and result in your makeup running off of your face. A water based foundation, however, will not contribute to your oily skin care problem and will hold tightly on your face and will help the rest of your makeup remain intact. Another oily skin care tip is to use an application of pressed powder subsequent to your foundation application to set the foundation.

5 Tips To Improved Skin Care

article written by Aurel Radulescu

Your skin is the first thing that people notice about you and that is why a proper skin care regimen is so important. There are many products that claim to help improve skin tone and promote a flawless complexion, but the truth is that there is no such thing as instant results. An effective skin care regimen is one that is done consistently over a time before results will begin to develop.

Skin Care Tip 1: Always use some type of exfoliation product, which will help to remove old skin cells and other debris and particles from your skin. This will expose the healthy cells and rid your body from the old ones.

Skin Care Tip 2: If possible, avoid constant sun exposure and tanning beds. In addition to being dangerous where health is concerned, these may also lead to early signs of aging. Everyone loves a suntan, but there is no reason to sacrifice your skin or your health in order to achieve it. Therefore, many individuals opt for a self-tanning lotion instead. Back in the day, these products had a tendency to turn the skin orange, but that is no longer the case. Improvements have helped to give self-tanning products a more natural, streak-free look. Before applying the lotion to your entire body, apply it to a small test area just to make sure there is no irritation.

Skin Care Tip 3: If your lips tend to become chapped in the winter months or wind burnt at other times, using lip balm or lipstick will help to protect the lips from nature's worst.

Skin Care Tip 4: Dry or cracked skin can be very unbearable. Not to mention the discomfort of tight red skin, it can be downright embarrassing. A container of Pacquin Plus hand & body cream will eliminate soreness, redness and help to add moisture back to dry skin.

Skin Care Tip 5: Do not use products that irritate your skin in any way, including soaps that have harsh ingredients. If possible, use a moisturizing soap or that which is designed for sensitive skin. In addition to these tips, skin care products are available as commercial or prescription based treatments. A dermatologist is often consulted for matters relating to acne or other skin disorders, especially if they are severe. Many skin care enthusiasts also believe in using plenty of moisturizing body lotion in order to replenish the skin's natural moisture, which is often stripped in today's harsh environment.

Finding Effective Skin Care Products

article written by Jean Bowler

To know what to look for in an antiaging skin care product, it's important to understand what causes deterioration in the skin over time. All aspects of aging, including slack skin, wrinkles and uneven skin tone are the result of free radical damage at the molecular level.

Oxygen molecules are the bad boys of the antiaging world. When involved in a chemical reaction, they frequently lose one of their electrons and then dash madly about trying to steal an electron from another molecule. This can start a destructive chain reaction of unstable molecules, called free radicals, dashing around creating more unstable molecules.

Think of it like a radical mob building to riot force. Free radical damage is also known as oxidation. On metal, it appears in the form of rust. So when we say we are getting rusty, it's not really far from the truth!

Fortunately skin has amazing regenerative abilities that help it repair damage up to a point. As well, nature has provided an anti-riot squad called The Antioxidants. Antioxidants are found in the human body and elsewhere in nature. They effectively block free radicals from getting to other healthy stable molecules.

But there are factors that can accelerate free radical damage to the point that the balance of power shifts in favor of the free radical mob. Current thinking categorizes the factors into: lifestyle (meaning where and how you live); the natural aging process; and genetics.

Some of these skin risk factors can be changed and some can't. As time and science march on, the list of factors which can be mitigated grows longer and longer. Lifestyle changes are frequently possible if you know what to do and are motivated to make the changes.

Thanks to fairly recent scientific findings, the natural aging process of skin can be slowed and even reversed to some extent. That leaves only the genetic factors of skin aging that we are stuck with. At least for now.

UV protection, in the form of SPF creams, is the first topical step to take for your skin's health. The second is moisturizing. The third step is assisting the fight against free radical damage with antioxidants. Steps four and five are skin care products that help remove old/dead/abnormal skin cells and those that promote normal skin regeneration. Many ingredients shown to accomplish this demolition and renovation are found in the latest generation of face creams.

In addition to antiaging treatments that support physical health and beauty, there are also antiaging skin care creams that address cosmetic concerns like adult acne, uneven skin pigmentation and lines of expression.

While no one dies from these conditions, it is widely accepted that if we look better, we feel better. So though treatments for these skin conditions are termed cosmetic , they frequently have a mental health benefit in that they support a healthy self-image and increased self confidence.

This article is for informational purposes only. It does not purport to offer medical advice. Consult a qualified physician before using any of these products.

Antiaging

writen by StarHerb

ANTI AGING:

Now a days Anti aging is big problem, natural diet can reduce effect of anti aging. FOODS SUCH AS KALE, sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, black beans and brown rice can trip up Father Time before he comes creeping around adding body fat and depleting energy. As early as our twenties, a gradual decline in the immune and muscular systems begins to set in if not offset by restorative nutrients and regular exercise. It's not simply the years that have a damaging effect on our bodies, it's also those out-of-control free radicals--oxygen molecules that come unglued during normal cell functions. If not disarmed, the radical oxygen fragments attack our cell membranes and leave us vulnerable to such serious health problems as heart disease and cancer as well as signs of deterioration associated swith aging--sagging muscles, wrinkles and the need for reading glasses. Fortunately, the antioxidant nutrients--vitamins A, C and E, selenium and zinc--fight back. Here are specific foods that contain bodyguard nutrients and a dietary plan that promotes lasting vitality and timeless beauty.

Some Dietary Rules to Reduce Anti Aging Problem:

A diet rich in antioxidants stimulates the immune system and helps protect the body from signs of premature aging. Steal from time and live by the following guidelines:

1. Eat five vegetables and fruits daily. For nutrient density, choose produce in living color--deep greens, reds and oranges as in collard greens, tomatoes and mangoes.

2. Consume plenty of beans. For low-fat protein and high-quality fiber, make legumes--dry beans, peas, lentils or tofu--the focus of your meals several times a week.

3. Get enough calcium--800 to 1,200 milligrams daily. To keep your bones and teeth fortified, count on low-fat dairy products, especially yogurt, broccoli and spinach.

4. Get your fill of water. This is the nutrient your body needs in the greatest amount. Use a variety of liquids like diluted juices and herbal teas to achieve your quota of eight cups a day.

Tricks For Staying Young

article written by Jenna Simpson

Some people have trouble aging gracefully. They worry about wrinkles, graying hair and other effects of aging. But for people who are aging they should concentrate on getting all the nutrients that they need.

It is harder for older people to get all the nutrients and vitamins that their body needs. One reason could be the gradual loss of appetite, either by low physical activity and the effects of drugs. It is sad to say that almost 50 % of Americans 65 or older are on one or more prescribed drugs. Also as we age, our gastrointestinal track, liver and kidneys are not able to process and get the nutrients that your body gets through the food you eat, as they used to.

Arthritis, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, digestion problems and fatigue can be prevented to a sorting degree. Having nutritional supplements can help you live longer and better.

Here are some supplements that every one should be getting. Vitamin B, it can help brain function and can fight against Alzheimer's disease. Spirulina is good source for progressive mental diseases. Green tea can help against some types of cancers. You need flax seeds for healthy cell function and replication because it contains vital acids. Garlic is good for your immune and cardiovascular systems and can fight against arteriolosclerosis. Ginger is good for your digestive system and also good for blood clots and anti-inflammation like arthritis. There are many other things that are beneficial to you, like ginseng, ginkgo biloba, reishi mushroom extract, cordyceps. So make sure that you eat healthy and get all the nutrients your body needs.

You can get all the supplements at your local health store or vitamin shop. But before you do any of this be sure that the ingredients interact with any of your medication to avoid any complication.

Curing Wrinkles and Aging Skin

article written by David Maillie

Why is it that practically everyone in the middle class to the upper levels of demographics in any country are worried about getting wrinkles? Maybe it's the fear of getting old or looking old, or the wanting to look socially acceptable, or just plain vanity. We all have our own reasons. But whatever it is, everyone is united in wanting to solve this age old problem. However, in the first place, do we even have any idea about what actually causes these dreaded wrinkles? It's highly probable that we don't. The most important factor in finding a solution to any problem is finding out the root cause of it.

As we age, our body undergoes various changes, and so does our skin. In our skin, we have tissues known as collagen and elastin. These tissues are mainly responsible for making our skin firm and stretchable. As we grow older, the amount of collagen and elastin in our skin naturally diminishes. As a result, our skin becomes less elastic and weaker, thus creating "wrinkles". Experts say that the amount of wrinkles that a person will develop through the years also depends on the genetic make up of this individual. However, smoking, sun exposure, dry skin, and repetitive facial expressions and mannerisms such as frowning, can all enhance the creation of wrinkles that may or may not be permanently present.

Over the years, beauty experts and skin doctors have come up with a vast array products to treat and minimize wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle creams and ointments help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. These wrinkle ointments and anti-aging creams help a lot in restoring the skin's firmness and elasticity. In addition, these products contain anti-oxidants and retinol that not only aids in reducing wrinkles and fine lines on the skin, but also stimulates collagen production.

For people seeking solutions to severe damage that has already been done to the skin, there are a number of treatments available ranging from chemical peels and dermabrasion to the latest and technologically advanced, computerized laser resurfacing. However, many people looking for skin repair are hesitant to try chemical or laser peels due to the painful procedure and long recuperation period they have to undergo. The results of these procedures however, are fantastic.

One less painful procedure is the particle skin resurfacing procedure. Dr. John Studd MD, plastic surgeon at the Hale clinic explains " The process is removes the outer layer of skin in a highly controlled manner. Because of its preciseness, it is practically painless. By repeating this procedure a number of times, the younger skin moves to the surface, thus promoting visible changes in the skin's texture, color and appearance. The benefits of this skin resurfacing procedure are that it causes very little pain or discomfort, no recuperative period is needed, there is minimal risk, it can be used for all skin types, and no anesthesia is required. "

The important thing to remember when seeking out treatment for your wrinkles is to know first how your body can possibly react to the treatment. Get in touch with a skin doctor for things that you are not sure of, but are contemplating on trying out.

Exercise as a Solution to Anti-Aging

article written by Blake Turner

Facial toning exercises are ideal for keeping the face healthy and free of aging. At least to a degree, since we can never abandon all things that nature sends our way. We can never get away from eliminating all age signs, since nature is dominating solutions. As we age, we experience crowfeet, wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, and other aging symptoms. Most times we experience lines around the eyes, neck, forehead and chest area, and sometimes even the hands.

Products are available on the market, including creams, machines, surgeries, toners, night creams, gels, lotions, foams, pads, and more. Few products offer natural ingredients that claim to prevent lining and wrinkles, while declining the fatty tissues around the face area, which is idea if you have excessive fat around the face area.

The gels and foams I've found to offer more in the way of making the face radiant. Thus, gels and foams I've tried personally gave my face a healthier glow and youthful appeal. Still, gels and foams differ, thus deciding on the right anti-aging solution, you must consider your skin type. Also, like any thing else you purchase it is important to make sure the ingredients are not detrimental.

One of the better solutions for minimizing wrinkles is pampering and exercising your face. Moving the mouth in circular motion is a form of exercise as well as eating meals.

Some of the products for anti-aging solutions include the masks. The substance is applied to the face and stays on the face until it starts to feel hard. The problem I've found with the masks is that it tends to irritate the skin. The solution will tighten the facial area.

The creams for protecting the skin help to restore the skins health supposedly, while toning the face and reducing the wrinkles, at the same time adding tightness to the skin to help it restore collagen. Few of the products claim to offer ongoing solutions for reducing aging signs, however, many confess that some of the products work as little as ten minutes, however I doubt this is true. I need concrete evidence to make me believe this noise.

Flex facial systems differ, yet some have remedies for making the skin feel healthy, while giving a radiant appeal to the face, and reducing wrinkles while progressing. The machines are expensive and most claim to reduce wrinkles, enhance the skin, prevent and eliminate wrinkles, and repair the skins youth. The machines may include gloves, creams, and a massager that is used to relax the face. The processes help to minimize wrinkles while enhancing the skins tone.

Again, exercises is a better solution, including the face tone exercises, which extends and pull the skin upward, thus tightening the skin. The mechanical gloves are used since the process becomes a bit wet, but the lotions, creams, or gels are applied to pads, which the machine rotates minimizing the wrinkles from aging and weather beats. Still, the natural exercises, which mean you will pin the ears back, move the mouth and jaw in circular motion and so on can help minimize wrinkles.

Crowfeet are one of the biggest problems women and men alike incur. Crowfeet develop around the eyes, developing lines. The crowfeet accumulate, starting with age, but extends when persons are around smoke, or narrow the eyes ongoing. Other problems increase lines around the eyes and face area is overexposure of the sun. Thus, avoiding sun beds, lamps, sun, smoke, and other harmful chemicals including cosmetics with CARCINOGEN, and PARABEN, OR PROPYL is your ultimate solution for avoiding wrinkles.

Baby fat is often from overweight problems, or else hereditary. If you are overweight, exercising can help you reduce aging, weight and more. Exercise in fact has proven to keep the body and face looking young, while protecting it from diseases and illnesses. Thus, if you have fat around the face area the right exercises can help to remove some of the fatty tissues. If you have a hereditary problem, try not to worry about it, since people with baby faces tend to look nicer than some of those people with narrow faces, still you want to exercise.

Anti Aging Skin Care - Tips on Defying Skin Aging

article written by May Lee

As we get older, the skin ages too. This article looks at the ways in which we can defy skin aging and retain our youthful complexions for as long as possible.

Know the Common Signs of Skin Aging

Different people will show different signs of aging at different times in their lives.

For a person who is in his or her mid-late 20s, the skin is generally in good condition but some signs of skin aging may appear. Depending on the person’s lifestyle, some of these signs could include dry or rough skin, blotchy skin, darkened and dull skin or an uneven skin tone

For a person in his or her late 20s or 30s, more signs of skin aging may appear. These could include loose skin, larger pores or even fine line and wrinkles.

For a person in his or her 40s, deeper expression lines, frown lines on the forehead, more obvious wrinkles and crow’s feet may appear. The skin may appear more sallow and less firm.

For a person in his or her 50s and 60s, deep wrinkles and folds of skin may appear. The skin becomes more dry and rough. Age spots may also appear.

Understand the Cause of Skin Aging

Skin aging is 90% of the time due to sun damage and 10% due to genetic factors.

Intrinsic or biological aging is due to genetic factors. The intrinsic factors are the slow down of skin turnover, decreased collagen and sebum production.

Extrinsic or photo aging is also called sun-induced skin aging and therefore largely preventable. Sun damage is accumulated a little each time there is an exposure to the burning rays of the sun. The damage is not immediately noticeable. Often one is not aware of the amount of sun damage accumulated until much later, years later in fact.

Never Too Early to Start Protecting Your Skin

Your skin starts to age from the time you were born! As sun damage is primary cause of skin aging, it is never too early to start protecting your skin from the burning rays of the sun. So always apply sunscreen lotion on yourself and your kids when you are outdoors. Prevention is always better than cure!

If you love to sun tan or an outdoors person, a good, strong sun cream is a must.

Stub out that Cigarette

Not only is smoking detrimental for your health, it is also bad for your skin. It reduces blood flow to the skin and causes the skin to look dry and sallow. Smoking further encourages wrinkles to develop around the mouth as smokers puckers their mouth and “crow’s feet” around the eye due to squinting to avoid the smoke.

Get Attitude about Age

Article written by Dr. Leslie Van Romer

The basic principles for longevity are simple, but few people around the world, and especially in the United States, understand these principles. Even if they do understand these principles, they don’t incorporate these principles into their own lives.

It’s one thing to know what principles promote health and fitness and a long, active, productive, and purposeful life, and quite another to muster up the determination to put these principles into practice.

Too many of us chase the Fountain of Youth, hungry for a quick fix.

Our whole culture is youth centered—the look, the clothes, the sports, the activities, the advertising.

We exult our youth while we neglect to honor and revere our parents and grandparents, the very people who have gathered a lifetime of experiences and wisdom. In fact, we put them away when they become too much of an inconvenience, a nuisance.

The message is loud and clear: youth is beautiful and old age is not a pretty picture.

And let’s face it. The way we age in this country, who wants to get old? When we look around us and even at ourselves, old age walks hand in hand with pain, stiffness, immobility, disease, and lack of purpose.

The question remains: does the inevitability of aging bring about the inevitability of pain, suffering, and disease?

Interestingly, the gerontologists, the old age specialists, tell us that the human body is designed to live and function well for one hundred years. Yes, we are made to live one hundred years. Furthermore, we are made to live one hundred years with health, fitness, vitality, mobility, and purpose.

How many one hundred year olds do we see around us who are healthy, mobile, and vibrant? The chances of knowing such a person is about as rare as seeing a unicorn, is it not?

If we do happen to know someone who has reached the benchmark year of one hundred, what kind of shape is she or he in?

In this country, we think it is nothing short of a miracle if we live to be eighty even if we can barely get out of a chair or walk around the block, much less fully participate in our favorite activities with our favorite people.

The Fountain of Youth is within our reach, but it can not be bought. We must be work for it, constantly, every day. If we choose not to, then premature aging is inevitable right along with disability, premature diseases, and early death.

So would you like to discover the Fountain of Youth? Look for it in what you eat, how much you move, and how you live your life.

Of all the longevity factors known to influence aging, the only longevity factor that has been shown in studies is body weight.

In other words, if these studies are accurate for human beings, carrying around too many pounds automatically wipes out the number of years that you live.

In a nutshell, what are the factors that increase your chances of living a longer life? According to Dan Georgakas in The Methuselah Factors, some of the factors critical for a long life are:

Lean body weight Fresh fruits and vegetables Raw nuts and whole grains No smoking Lifelong daily moderate exercise such as walking Lifelong work and purpose Regular sleep habits More easy going personality

Ask yourself this question. Do you care if you live a long life and do you care if your life is one of quality with a well performing body, a bright mind, and an active and purposeful lifestyle?

If you do care, then now is the time to take that first step for preserving your most valuable asset—you!

Facial Skincare Tips: Scrubs, Masks, and Exfoliation

Article written by Lyne Doxley

Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It’s also the first thing that most people notice about you. It shields your bones, muscles, and blood vessels. Skin is so vital, so why do people not take better care of it?

Not drinking enough water, going out in the sun without sunscreen, and using harsh chemical products adds to the damage. There are a myriad of products on the market nowadays to help you keep your skin healthy, among them masks, scrubs and exfoliation products.

Before settling on a skincare regimen, you have to know what skin type you have. If you’re lucky, you might have normal skin – not too dry or too oily, but just right. More people will have combination skin where there are parts of the face and body which are dry and other parts oily. Or, you might just be all oily or all dry skinned. No matter which type skin you have, there are products made specially for you.

Facial Masks: Facial mask products can be found for any skin type or condition. Do you suffer from acne or blackheads? There are facial masks that you apply, let dry dry and then peel off. Dead skin covering blackheads will become unclogged which helps clear them up. There are also facial masks that you apply and allow to dry, like mud masks. When you are done, you wash your face with warm water to remove the mud mask.

Mud masks have a number of benefits, including oil control. You skin will glow with health, not shine with oil. The impurities in your skin’s pores are removed by the mud mask, and appearance of those pores will be minimized. Pimple growth is lessened and blackheads dissolve and wash away.

Scrubs and Exfoliaters: You can consider exfoliating like using very fine sandpaper for your skin. You will be using a mildly abrasive material that buffs away dead skin cells, leaving glowingly healthy skin in its place. Exfoliating has several benefits. First, old dead skin cells making your complexion dull are scrubbed off, leaving new fresh skin cells. Additionally, after exfoliation, it is easier for skin to absorb moisturizers and other skin treatments.

If your complexion is normal to oily, exfoliating is helpful three to four times a week. For drier skin, exfoliation should only be done one to two times a week maximum. You should establish a skincare routine that includes all of these products, and adds a cleaner and moisturizer. You will keep your skin healthy far longer and feel better as well.
