How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes - Find Out Here
by Jim S Smith
If you get puffy eyes sometimes, it's probable that either your mother or father or both of them also get them too. In this way having puffy eyes is, for many people, inherited. Having said that, it is still possible that you will have puffy eyes from time to time even though neither of your parents ever do. The skin surrounding the eyes is particularly sensitive because it has a high concentration of blood vessels.
Having puffy eyes around can be caused for a number of reasons. Crying usually causes puffiness around the eyes; this is because our bodies increase the blood flow around the eyes in reaction to our emotions. Additional causes for puffy eyes include feeling stressed, having an allergic reaction, retention of fluid, and changes in our body's hormone production. Our eyes can also become puffy when we wake up after having been asleep. This post-sleep eye puffiness can be due to a number of factors including drinking alcohol before sleeping, moving around a lot while asleep or too much salt in our diets which causes the body to retain water and therefore causes puffy eyes.
In more ongoing cases of puffy eyes it is recommended that an eye health professional is consulted.
How to get rid of puffy eyes:
1. Drink lots of plain water, this will help to flush out toxins from your body.
2. Reduce the amount of salt you eat. Remember that a lot of foods have 'hidden' salt, check the nutritional details on the food packet.
3. If you identify that your eyes become puffy because of an allergic reaction minimize contact with whatever causes the reaction. You should also consult your doctor to see if there is any treatment for the allergic reaction.
Effectively getting rid of puffy eyes very much depends on what is causing the puffiness. Once the cause is identified the solution is much easier to find.
